Everyone loves Time Capsules, right? You know, the little shoeboxes or coffee cans you fill with stuff and then bury? Five years later you go and dig up all the stuff you buried and marvel that you actually liked it back then. Or you remember all the good memories associated with that particular item.
Recently I’ve noticed myself having sort of “unofficial” time capsule moments. I’ll be listening to a song I haven’t listened to in a while, or watching something I haven’t watched in a while and be brought back mentally.
It’s good to remember the times in your life where you have felt God being so good to you and so faithful. Often just the memories of these times are enough to sustain us in our trials.
For me it was listening to “Grace” by Phil Wickham the other day.
What are some recent things that have brought on the nostalgia recently for you?
Well, I don’t know…but I loveeee the new site. It’s really nifty and I’m a little jealous. Would you like to redo mine?
I do the same thing… sometimes it’s a comment, a piece of clothing, a picture, or the particular day’s weather. I used to save everything that had a special memory and put it in boxes. Now I just try to capture memories and I carry a journal with me everywhere.
Delirious and several of Jason Upton’s songs remind me of some some pretty amazing times with God several years ago. It’s great to go back and remember all that God did, while still anticipating all that He has planned to do.
