New Site: The Last Well

So – here’s the last of the three websites that I’ve been working on recently.

The Last Well (www.thelastwell.org) is an organization dedicated to providing clean water for the nation of Liberia. The name comes from their belief that we could solve the water problem in Liberia in the near future, thus digging “the last well”.

The Last Well is run by Todd Phillips, the former Director of Frontline, and now a Teaching Pastor at Lake Pointe Church in Texas. Todd came to me at the end of last year wanting to upgrade their look and functionality. They were already using WordPress to power their site, but it was a confusing mess of posts and categories and didn’t really have a “unique” feel to it.

The design and colors of the site were pretty easy. Blue is certainly going to be integrated into a site for an organization providing clean water, and I found a great shade of blue to go along with the understated blacks and greys.

The fantastic icons and video feature were designed by my teammate Anna, and I (bragging a bit here) designed the rest of the graphical elements of the site (with the exception of the already existing logo). This is probably the best looking site I’ve created. I’m pretty proud of the way it came out.

One thing to notice is the “Wells” page, which has an embedded Google Map with custom pins where each of the wells they have built are located. I thought that was pretty cool.

Anyhow, check it out and let me know what you think!
