Do you like pizza? Not just any pizza, but good pizza? Then you’re in luck, because DC has some of the best pizza around!

My Fiance and I have been to quite a few of the better pizza places around and I’ve come up with a little chart to rank them all.

Note – I like the classic Neapolitan pizza – like you get in Italy. I am not as big of a fan of the deep dish ones that come out of Chicago – though they aren’t bad. But keep this in mind when reading the rankings.

The Champion

1. Il Canale – This pizza is absolutely sublime. And they’re pretty big too! This little place in Georgetown is absolutely fantastic. They recently earned the official certification of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, an organization dedicated to preserving authentic Neapolitan pizza-making traditions, as being genuine Neapolitan Pizza.

Fantastic

2. 2Amys – The previous champ, and the only other place in DC proper (and two of only 60 in the country) with the official certification of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, they only reason they lose out to Il Canale is because the atmosphere can be a bit of a zoo sometimes. But make no mistake, this is fantastic pizza.
3. Red Rocks – This is the closest thing to the two above it. The thing that really separates the best pizza places from the rest is the way they do Margherita pizza. Go for the buffalo mozzarella. It’s worth it.

Solid Dinner

4. Pizzeria Paradiso* – Great pizzas – big enough to share. Very close to making it to the top level.
5. Rustico* – Also extremely good. A bit pricier than some of the others here, but delicious.
6. Matchbox – Cool atmosphere and good pizzas.
7. Fireworks* – Good pizzas. Not the Italian style I prefer, but still solid.
8. Pete’s New Haven Style Apizza – Huge pizzas with very nice ingredients. The New Haven Style is a bit different than the others on the list, but still good.
9. Lost Dog Cafe* – About 100 different pizzas (seriously) and sandwiches. Pretty darn good.

Don’t bother
10. Joe’s Place Pizza & Pasta
11. Dominoes
12. Papa Johns
13. Pizza Hut

*I don’t drink, but I have been told that these ones have superb beer menus.

Anyhow, enjoy your pizza! There’s a few that I still want to try, so don’t hate if I don’t have your favorite on here.

I saw the following “sale” a while ago at a store that shall remain nameless.

I find it interesting how putting a big red sale tag on it can completely blind people to the fact that it’s only four cents less than the original price, therefore causing people to buy it who probably wouldn’t have bought it otherwise.

I don’t think I’d call it deceptive marketing, but it’s close.

Of course, I think sometimes we’ll put flashy exteriors on things (ministries, events, organizations) that really haven’t changed at all on the inside. Not sure if that’s a bad thing, but you have to wonder sometimes if the ends justify the means.

Food for thought.

Just read this fascinating article over at Huffington Post: How to Manage Me: Millennials and Communication.

The article talks about the shift in management styles needed to manage the millennial generation…changes that are likely to become even more pronounced and necessary as the older generations rapidly move out of the workforce.

The key quote comes at the end…

Don’t take away our most potent communication tools: we millennials live on a network that includes our friends and our parents, and it can be a powerful tool for your business or non-profit. Brinkerhoff equates telling a 26-year old to not use Facebook to telling him or her not to breathe. Managers who want to get ahead need their millennial employees connected and networking–it’s a natural skill set we already have when we walk in the door.

“If you have policies against IM’s and Facebook, you are cutting off powerful tools of the millennials,” says Howe, “If you’re worried about them wasting time, simply give them more work.”

Wow. How true is that. The “distractions” that we engage in at work have the potential to actually be our greatest strengths.

Food for thought when you’re coming up with your organization’s policies.

I thought the above video was very insightful and I thought I’d share it. If you get a chance, it’s a good watch.

Main Points:

1. The digital era is here to stay.
2. The emerging generation is more connected through technology than ever before in history.
3. This comes with enormous negative trade-offs.
4. Christians must find out how to be both connected and faithful.

Anyhow, it’s a lot deeper than just those points, so give it a watch.
